EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Maurex Limited was incorporated in January 2021 with the goal of providing the construction sector in Busia County and its environs with high-quality building materials. The company is located in Apegei village, Ateso South Busia County. At both the county and national levels of government, the company has successfully obtained licenses and permissions from all government departments.
Maurex Limited is solely owned by Mr. Maurice Odhiambo. He holds a master's degree in alcohol technology from India and a higher national diploma in chemical engineering from Eldoret Polytechnic. He has over 30 years of practical experience in the Agrochemical’s, construction and building industry. He has held the position of Production Manager at Spectra International Kisumu and Sugar Cooperation Uganda Ltd for 8 and 5 years respectively. Other positions held include Project Manager at Bwendero Sugar factory in Hoima for 5 years. He is currently the Projects and Technical Director at Atek Agro-Chemicals based in Kampala, Uganda which he owns 40% of the total stake.
The company’s business model is to produce construction aggregates and high quality sand for sale to the players in the construction industry. Sand is a vital building ingredient in the construction industry in Kenya since it can be used for so many different things, including the creation of concrete. Maurex Limited has identified a technology that is unique in sand manufacture, where, crushed rock sand, is produced by the crushing of granite rocks, the coarse hard rock deposits are crushed in crushers and the crushed material is segregated in different fractions. The sand obtained is further refined by removing fine particles and impurities through sieving and washing ensure high quality sand. This is a cost effective technology that produces clean washed sand free from silt and starch. There are only five sand manufacturing firms in Kenya but based in Nairobi with other sand suppliers obtaining sand directly from rivers and the ground.
The products will be sold to Road construction companies, Cement production plants, Blocks molding companies, Individual developers, Government institutions and hardware businesses. It is projected that the revenues will outstrip the costs therefore giving the company huge profits and adequate cash flows.
A geological survey has been conducted which has confirmed existence quality raw materials with a capacity of excavation for over 25 years. The excavated sample was also tested by the machine supplier in China.
